Hold the Phone…Or Not
You’ve heard of Carpal Tunnel. You may have even heard stories of Blackberry Thumbs or Guitar Hero Wrists.
Here’s one you may not have heard — but chances are you’ve felt it. It’s called Cellphone Elbow.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, doctors have noticed a distinct upswing in the number of cases they are treating. In fact, Cellphone Elbow is the second-most common treated compression syndrome that the surgeons at the Clinic are treating, preceded by Carpal Tunnel.
If you’d like to avoid this problem but aren’t yet ready to part with your phone, never fear. Doctors recommend rotating which arm you use to hold the phone, or adopt a hands-free version.
Here’s a thought…we could just talk on the phone less.
Unplugged: Cell Phone Chargers to Be Standarized
Dead cellphone batteries rejoice! It appears that cellphone chargers will be standardized by 2012 (of course, if you believe those pesky Mayan calendar rumors, it won’t matter anyhow, right?). So far, seventeen manufacturers have agreed to make interchangeable chargers that will work for the majority of new cellphones — this according to a recent USAToday story.
